If you're an NDIS participant looking for exercise physiology or physiotherapy, you've come to the right place. We work with people across all ages and disability types to build strength, confidence, and independence through structured, individualised exercise.
We don't do generic programs. Your clinician takes the time to understand your goals, your body, and your life, then builds a plan around what matters to you. Whether that's getting stronger, moving more easily, joining a community group, or managing pain, we start where you are and progress at your pace.
Plan-managed and self-managed participants welcome across all three Melbourne clinics.

What we offer
One-on-one exercise physiology
Individualised sessions with an accredited exercise physiologist in our fully equipped clinic gyms. Your program is built around your goals and adapted as you progress.
One-on-one physiotherapy
Assessment, hands-on treatment, and rehabilitation for pain, injury, and movement difficulties. Available at our Footscray clinic.
Group exercise
Small group sessions supervised by a clinician. A great option for building social connection and confidence in a supported environment.
Telehealth
Video-based sessions for participants who prefer to exercise from home or can't easily travel to a clinic.
How we work with your team
We don't work in isolation. We collaborate with your support coordinator, plan manager, and any other practitioners involved in your care. You'll receive biannual progress reports, and we're always available to attend planning meetings or provide updates when needed.
Who we work with
- People with physical disabilities looking to build strength, fitness, or mobility
- People with psychosocial disabilities who benefit from structured, supported exercise
- People with neurological conditions (MS, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury)
- People with intellectual disabilities
- People living with chronic pain or fatigue alongside their disability
- Anyone with NDIS funding for capacity building or community participation
What participants say matters to them
The people we work with tell us the same things matter most: being listened to, having a say in their plan, feeling safe in the clinic, and working with someone who actually understands their condition. That's what we focus on.
How to get started
1. Get in touch. Complete our NDIS enquiry form below, or call us on 1300 920 520. Our NDIS coordinator will be in touch to discuss your goals and funding.
2. Initial appointment. A thorough assessment with your clinician to understand your needs, set goals, and build your plan.
3. Ongoing sessions. Regular appointments at your pace, with progress tracked and reported to your team.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. You just need NDIS funding that covers exercise physiology or physiotherapy under capacity building.
Do you accept plan-managed and self-managed participants?
Yes. We work with both plan-managed and self-managed participants. We'll liaise directly with your plan manager if needed.
What's the difference between exercise physiology and physiotherapy?
Both physiotherapists and exercise physiologists can assess your needs, screen for red flags, and guide your care. Physiotherapists can provide hands-on treatment and manual therapy. Exercise physiologists bring deeper experience with long-term exercise programming. At The Biomechanics we have both under one roof, so we match you with the clinician whose skills, availability, and funding best fit your plan.
How often will I need to come?
That depends on your goals and your funding. Some participants come once a week, others two or three times. We'll recommend a frequency and adjust as you progress.
Which clinics offer NDIS services?
All three: Footscray, Glen Iris, and Port Melbourne. Telehealth is also available.
An 18-hour cancellation policy applies to all services. Services cancelled within 18 hours of the booked appointment time will be charged a late cancellation fee of the cost of the consultation that you are cancelling.
