Active Seniors 65+ is a small group class for adults 65 and over, built around strength, balance and confidence for everyday life. Each 45-minute session is led by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and capped at 10 people, so there's time for individual guidance.
You'll work at your own pace. And because it's the same small group each week, you'll get to know the people training beside you.
Made for real life
The goal isn't a gym body. It's carrying the shopping without a second thought, getting up off the floor with the grandkids, and feeling steadier on your feet.
Every session covers:
- Strength for everyday tasks like stairs, gardening and shopping
- Balance and steadiness on your feet
- Mobility and flexibility
- Fitness for your heart and lungs
- Confidence in how you move
A class built around you
No two people are the same at 65 and over. Your exercise physiologist adapts every exercise to suit you, whether you're returning to exercise or already active.
You'll be challenged. But at a pace your body is ready for.
Why it works
Research shows strength and balance training, done consistently, can reduce the rate of falls in older adults living in the community by around a quarter (Sherrington et al., 2019).
And it's never too late to start. Resistance training helps people over 65 build muscle and strength, which supports independence (Fragala et al., 2019).
Ten people, one coach
Your class is capped at 10 and led by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, a university-qualified clinician. If something feels off, your coach adjusts your exercises on the spot.
The social side is built in
Same group, same time, every week. The chat before class and the catch-ups after matter as much as the squats.
Research suggests social connection is one of the main reasons older adults stick with group exercise (Farrance et al., 2016).
Getting started
Classes run at our Footscray clinic. Your first step is a one-on-one assessment with an exercise physiologist.
We'll learn about your health and your goals, build your plan and make sure the class is right for you.
