When it comes to looking after your health, it’s often easy to forget about your feet. Podiatrists are experts in foot, ankle and lower extremity health and can help prevent, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions.

The podiatrist at The Biomechanics utilise a biopsychosocial approach to lower extremity symptoms, that is symptoms affecting the hip, knee, ankle and foot. By addressing biological, psychological and social factors, we aim to provide a more thorough treatment and ultimately empower you to be in control of your situation and health.

What can I see a Podiatrist for?

You can see a podiatrist for any pain or symptoms of the lower extremities (foot, ankle or knee) or hip/back symptoms that may have a lower extremity component. Podiatrists can help prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate conditions of the feet and lower extremity. Podiatrists also treat other foot problems, including: toenail problems, such as thickened, fungal or ingrown toenails, corns and calluses.

They can also treat foot problems that arise from underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes and arthritis.

Our podiatrist can help if you suffer from:

  • Foot & Heel Pain
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Knee & Leg Pain
  • Foot & Ankle Injury
  • Sports Injuries
  • Corns & Calluses
  • Plantar Warts
  • Toenail Problems

You can also see a podiatrist for sporting related concerns or goals, which can be addressed through gait analysis and a strength and conditioning program.

What should I expect when seeing a Podiatrist for the first time?

In your initial consultation, we will thoroughly discuss the nature and history of your current symptoms. We will aim to provide a comprehensive assessment including education and treatment modalities, such as:

  • Gait Analysis and Strength Testing
  • Joint mobilisation techniques
  • Orthotic therapy
  • Exercise Prescription
  • Taping strategies
  • Further assessment

Following your initial consultation, treatment may continue with individualised management of current symptoms.

Ultimately, after your initial consultation you should see an improvement in your symptoms or complaints.

At The Biomechanics, our podiatrist aims to educate and empower our clients to take control of their treatment, rehabilitation or strength and conditioning. It is our goal to deliver the latest in evidence-based treatments and provide the highest level of care for our clients.
