What is Exercise Physiology?
As an Exercise Physiologist we use our vast knowledge in movement and exercise to assist with client injuries, chronic conditions or ongoing strengthening. Exercise Physiologists utilise evidence based practice to prescribe the most appropriate exercise based treatments for our clients. Each client is treated as an individual and is prescribed tailored exercise specifically for them.
Exercise Physiologists will generally have an undergraduate degree of three years in Exercise and Sport Science with a further Masters degree in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation. We study a vast majority of conditions which range from Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Metabolic and Cardiovascular conditions. Exercise Physiologists can assist with musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation along with ongoing care for those who experience chronic conditions like diabetes, COPD and hypertension. Here at The Biomechanics, our EP's have vast experience with treating chronic lower back pain and other spine related conditions.

The lists above are not conclusive, and if there is something not listed that you’d like treatment or assistance with, give your local accredited Exercise Physiologist a call to find out what they can do.
What should I expect when seeing an Exercise Physiologist for the first time?
During your initial consultation with an EP you will complete a thorough subjective assessment identifying all things about you and what makes you, you. We use this assessment to identify the course of further treatment and to prescribed tailored movements and exercise that will assist with the presenting condition. We will often prescribe some home-based exercise as a starting point to begin to empower the client to increase overall exercise levels. Our EP's will provide the client with education on how to complete specific exercises and how to manage their condition with ongoing care.
As an Exercise Physiologist, we strive to ensure our clients are able to improve their overall wellbeing through the use of exercise and movement. We educate our clients on the benefits of meeting exercise guidelines and how this can improve their activities of daily living.
Here at The Biomechanics our Exercise Physiologists endeavour to educate, inspire and strengthen all of our clients. This means that we prescribe tailored exercise programs to all of our clients to ensure they can improve their daily function and live a life where they can achieve all they set out to.
